We deeply appreciate your willingness
to serve in this mission, whether as a fellowship leader of a local chapter
of the Knights of the Cross, or as one who will simply use this material as
a tool in mentoring this emerging generation of young leaders and champions
of the faith.
The Knights of the Cross is designed to help us and our children become
true knights of the cross of Jesus Christ. By this, we mean that we will
apply the highest ideals of knighthood to our Christian walk. Further, this
means to live each day making all major decisions in our lives by the
highest standards of integrity and honor, devoted to doing the will of the
King, and living each day with the understanding that we are on a life long
mission for the King of all Kings.
Presently,
Muslim extremists are taking young children and training them to give their
lives for their faith, often as suicide bombers. We want to teach our
children from the youngest ages to likewise, be willing to lay down their
lives for the faith, but in order to save souls not kill them. Our goal is
nothing less than to raise up the greatest force for the gospel that the
world has ever seen, led by those who do not live for themselves but for
Him. These will have reckoned themselves dead to this world, and therefore
will not walk in the fear of death becoming the most courageous people ever
to walk the earth.
The Knights of the Cross is designed to be a Christian discipleship
program, not an evangelistic program. Evangelism is a part of the KOC
training, but we are not using this program to evangelize, but to train and
equip those who are already disciples. Neither, are we just trying to make
better citizens and students, though this should be a fruit of the program.
Our goal is first and foremost focused on making better Christians.
We
therefore require that all who participate in this program, as leaders or
students, to hold firmly to the basic doctrines of the Christian faith
without compromise. These are founded on the central truth that Jesus
Christ is the Son of God and that faith in His atoning sacrifice on the
cross is the only way to eternal life and reconciliation to God the Father.
We will not be ashamed or compromise the basic foundational truths of the
Christian Faith. Furthermore, as we are exhorted in I Peter 2:17, we will
endeavor to "Honor
all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king."
To "honor all men" means that we will not disrespect anyone
because of their religious or philosophical beliefs regardless of how
contrary they may be to ours. All human beings, who were created in the
image of God, are worthy of dignity and respect, which we intend to show
them, as well as teach our children to show them.
To
"love the brotherhood" implies a special devotion to those who
are of the household of faith. To obey this we will seek to love and serve
all true Christians, regardless of their denominational or other
affiliations. We also consider it a basic duty to promote unity and love
between Christians.
To "fear God" also implies that we do not live our lives in
the fear of man, but the fear of God alone. To "honor the king"
is to honor the civil authority, which we too are committed to doing,
living by and teaching a basic respect for all who are in authority.
Our goal is to help everyone involved in the KOC to know their mission in
life, and to be trained and equipped to perform it, so when we all stand
together on the great judgment day and before our King, we would hear the
words that will be the greatest reward of all, "Well done, good and faithful
servant" (RSV).
In His Service,
Rick Joyner
